Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Written by French historian and colonial administrator Jean Chailley, this book explores the administrative challenges facing the British colonial government in India during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Tall octavo (23 cm), xv, 590 pp + folded map. Burgundy cloth. Spine ends starting to wear with some small loss of cloth along crown of spine. Spine faded. Edges of boards show some dings. Previous owner's name printed inside book.
