Covers show moderate wear with edge rubbing, creasing, and small chips at the spine ends; some tape reinforcement visible near the upper spine and minor loss at the lower corner of the front wrapper. Rear cover shows light soiling and age toning. Binding is split toward the rear but all pages remain intact.nterior generally clean with light age toning and occasional handling wear. Nel 1924 realizzo i suoi primi collages e disegni e nel 1926 divenne uno dei promotori del Surrealismo in Belgio. Dal 1928 al 1930 è stato redattore della ivista "Variétés", diretta da P. G. Van Hecke. Nel 1933 fondò le edizioni Nicolas Flamel.  La sua attività come uno dei leader del Movimento Surrealista in Belgio fu facilitata dal fatto di essere proprietario di una galleria, dove organizzò le prime mostre surrealiste in Belgio. Nel 1934 organizzo al Palais de Beaux Art di Bruxelles la mostra "Minotaure", di fatto la prima mostra internazionale del Surrealismo, cui farà seguito la London International Surrealist Exhibition organizzata con André Breton a Londra nel 1936.  Da questa iniziativa seguì il suo trasferimento a Londra dove divenne direttore della London Gallery, che gestì con Roland Penrose fino all 1950 e caporedattore del London Bulletin (1938-1940), che fu uno dei bollettini più importanti tra i periodici surrealisti in lingua inglese. Mesens dalla fine degli anni Trenta visse in permanenza a Londra, trascorrendo lunghi soggiorni a Bruxelles, a Milano e a Venezia. Partecipò a numerosissime manifestazioni del Movimento Surreakista Internazionale; nel 1963 una restrospettiva della sua opera (Collages) si tenne a Knokke in Belgio, un'altra a Milano nel 1965.
