Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates the intellectual landscape of partially sighted children and reveals it as a world with its own unique ethos that shapes their development. Drawing on original qualitative research, the author takes a step beyond testing quantitative intelligence to look at the spiritual, affective, and material influences that shape their schooling. The author draws upon psychology and philosophy to provide a rich context for understanding the difficulties and potential of these young people in a world often designed for those with typical vision. Grounded in the author's doctoral research, this book dissects the intellectual and emotional journey of these children, drawing on case studies to explore how education can be tailored to their particular needs so they may reach their full potential. Highlighting the social, emotional, and pedagogical issues of a group often overlooked or misunderstood, this book will appeal to educators and parents of partially sighted children as well as to academics in the fields of special education, developmental psychology, and visual impairment. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
