The SOM archival master plan proposal for a "Twin Towers" project in Singapore, January 30, 1981, by the globally renowned firm famous for designing iconic skyscrapers like the Burj Khalifa (Dubai) and One World Trade Center (NYC), is an unrealized project from that era. Today, the lease and development of land parcel 8, aka the "Gateway" (G) twin towers, 150/152 Beach Road, Singapore, as described in the 9th sale tender of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of the Republic of Singapore was instead completed by Chua Ka Seng and Partners Chartered Architects, et al in 1990. The G buildings were designed by U.S.-based architect, I.M. Pei.
