ENCOUNTER MAGAZINE was a leading and influential literary & cultural journal "Encounter", founded in 1953 by poet Stephen Spender and author Irving Kristol, was an English literary and cultural monthly magazine that covered the arts, literature, history and politics. Its contributors consisted of some of the leading intellectual and literary lights of the day. Melvin Lasky replaced Kristol as editor in 1958. Spender resigned as editor in 1967, and the journal ceased publication in 1990. This issue is notable for the inclusion of the First Appearance of a piece on Trieste by famed Science Fiction author Brian W. Aldiss. Also the First Appearances of three stories by Kurt Kusenberg. The article, "Has Futurology a Future?" by Robert Nisbet has considerable underlining. The piece by Nisbet is Illustrated by Czech artist Jaroslav Bradác.
