Unpaginated, though 12 pp. "Set by hand & printed by the Windhover Press, Short Hills, NJ June 1956" 8-7/8" x 6" McClure "was an American poet, playwright, songwriter, and novelist. After moving to San Francisco as a young man, he found fame as one of the five poets (including Allen Ginsberg) who read at the famous San Francisco Six Gallery reading in 1955, which was rendered in barely fictionalized terms in Jack Kerouac's The Dharma Bums. He soon became a key member of the Beat Generation and was immortalized as Pat McLear in Kerouac's Big Sur." This the author's rare first publication, hardly ever seen in the trade, last coming to auction in the early 80s. Some modest wear & age-toning. Very Good. Pale blue paper covers printed in black, sewn with green thread. Cover design by Williams. Now housed in an archival mylar sleeve 1st Printing (Lepper, p. 295). Limited to 200 cc.
