Wood engravings from the original text blocks. Each volume features original a…utographs of various California pioneers. Bound in full brown leather with decorative gilt covers and spine, five backbone hubs, gilt top edge and marbled endleaves. The set is in overall good+ condition, with each volume showing various degrees of wear: small cracks and splits to ends of spine, chipping and rubbing to extremities, corners bumped (a few worn through), chipping and rubbing to some of the panels. A few volumes show areas of loss to ends of spine. Very light scratching, soiling, and small gouges to gilt edges. Internally the set is in very good condition. The bindings are tight, text and images unmarked. The leaves show mild age toning to edges.
