McCain is the name I chose to put on what was likely a `staff' production. It should be noted that horses were (at the time of issue) used as well to draw field artillery…. There are 111 pages in this vol. with perhaps 55 b/w photos (quality of reproduction is only satisfactory) to exemplify points in the text. Mostly of shoes - angles, bends, nails, etc. ALSO many b/w drawings (which come off better), largely of various anatomical features of the horses lower leg. Cond: Tan paper wrapper with `War Office' insignia. No creases, no folds, no names, no marks, little soiled. The figure on page 11 will help you determine what the purpose is for nippers & hardies OR the clinching block and the pritchel. In Chapter VIII you'll learn about shoeing the `refractory' horse.
