Undated reprint (probably circa 1945-1950) with past ownership by George Washington University professor Dr. Frederick Amling. xii, 403 pages. Hardcover: H 22cm x L 14.25cm. No dust jacket (i.e. lacking). Dark blue cloth rubbed; spine lettering remains fairly bright; bumping/scuffing at spine ends and board corners. Text block edges toned with light soiling/staining. Ownership inscription "Fred Amling | 2107 West 83 | Cleveland, Ohio" along with ink name stamp "Frederick Amling" at top of front free endpaper; Amling's ink and red pencil underlining amongst text; short stray ink mark on rear pastedown. Binding is firm. Brief Erratum on page 403 (which is concluding page of Index as well). John Maynard Keynes' classic work in macroeconomic theory with Preface, Index, and twenty-four chapters divided among six sections titled as "Introduction," "Definitions and Ideas," "The Propensity to Consume," "The Inducement to Invest," "Money-Wages and Prices," and "Short Notes Suggested by the General Theory." Per the presence of the aforementioned ffep Cleveland address, Dr. Frederick Amling presumably acquired this copy while still an undergraduate in the mid to late 1940s (Harcourt usually dated their reprints but this Keynes book was an exception). With a bachelor's from Baldwin Wallace College, MBA from Miami University, and a Ph.D. from University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, Dr. Amling had a long academic career in both pedagogic and administrative roles including being finance department chair at Miami University, dean of University of Rhode Island School of Business, and Ph.D. program senior advisor at the GWU's School of Business from which, upon his retirement in 2000, was appointed professor emeritus. Dr. Amling authored approximately four books including the longtime standard college textbook "Investments: An Introduction to Analysis and Management" (at least six editions between 1965-1993) and co-authored, with Georgetown University Professor of Finance Emeritus William G. Droms, three other books in 1980s and 1990s.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. Chemical Warfare Agents, Second Edition has been totally revised since the successful first edition and expanded to about three times the length, with many new chapters and much more in-depth consideration of all the topics. The chapters have been written by distinguished international experts in various aspects of chemical warfare agents and edited by an experienced team to produce a clear review of the field. The book now contains a wealth of material on the mechanisms of action of the major chemical warfare agents, including the nerve agent cyclosarin, formally considered to be of secondary importance, as well as ricin and abrin. Chemical Warfare Agents, Second Edition discusses the physico-chemical properties of chemical warfare agents, their dispersion and fate in the environment, their toxicology and management of their effects on humans, decontamination and protective equipment. New chapters cover the experience gained after the use of sarin to attack travellers on the Tokyo subway and how to deal with the outcome of the deployment of riot control agents such as CS gas. This book provides a comprehensive review of chemical warfare agents, assessing all available evidence regarding the medical, technical and legal aspects of their use. It is an invaluable reference work for physicians, public health planners, regulators and any other professionals involved in this field.
