First Edition
First Edition ~1st Printing Softcover catalog of the acclaimed artist's work, vg in illustr covers; gentle bending to corners else a tight unmarked copy.
Published by Maxwell Galleries Ltd, San Francisco, Calif, 1972
Softcover. Blue paper wraps. 78 pp. 27 bw, 66 color plates. Issued in conjunction with a 1972 exhibition featuring paintings by Theodore Early Butler. An oustanding catalogue with almost as many color plates as the Richard Love monograph on this artist. 14-page uncredited essay followed by a chronology. A great source for color plates of Butler's work not to be found elsewhere. I believe these works came directly from the artist's estate through his son. Good (some wear to wraps, stamp on title page, pages excellent)".

The color plates of his oils on boards and watercolors are exceptionally high quality. Many are full page and all are bold and vivid, influenced by Cubism and German Expressionism.
