Die im unmittelbaren Anschluss an eine Hirnerschütterung auftretenden Psychosen können also… ätiologisch nur in sehr weitem Sinne als einheitliche Gruppe aufgefasst werden. Auch klinisch bilden sie keine Einheit. Wie bei vielen Erkrankungen des Gehirns, die mit ausgedehnteren, gröberen oder feineren Gewebsschädigungen desselben, sei es in mehr diffuser oder lokalisierter Weise, einhergehen, wird auch im Anschluss an die infolge schwerer Schädeltraumen entstandenen cerebralen Gewebsschädigungen häufiger der Korsakowsche Symptomenkomplex beobachtet. Doch kann derselbe nicht als die typische Kommotionspsyche betrachtet werden, da auch andere Formen geistiger Störung auftreten können.
