Slim 8vo; pale grey card wraps with bevelled edges, partially sunned at perimeters by smaller adjacent book. Illustrated label to front. Light diagonal crease at bottom 3rd, affecting two succeeding leaves. 111pp; a small closed tear at bottom corner of pp 109/110, contents otherwise tight, bright and clean with no markings or inscriptions. Sewn binding. Coloured frontis. illus 'The Green Garden' by Hosyun Yamaguti. One full-page drawing of a 'Hill Garden' and two full-page drawings of different 'Flat Gardens' hors texte, with a detailed plan of a Hill Garden to p31. Many dark blue photogravure illustrations throughout. Included is a very attractive silk bookmark depicting chrysanthemums, believed to be purchased contemporaneously with the book, since it was discovered stored within it. There is a little damage to the feathered edge from where it overlapped the book (please see images).
