Mathey (1884-1968) war Meisterschüler von E.R. Weiss an der Kunstgewerbeschule Berlin, leitete dann bis 1928 die Werkstätten der Akademie für graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe in Leipzig und war seit 1953 langjähriger Leiter des Klingspor-Museums in Offenbach.
