Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1937, Whitman; Racine, Wisconsin. This VG quality Whitman Better Little Book (4-1/2" x 3-1/2", 430 pages) is complete, with no pages missing and the cover in very good shape. Book is square with all four corners lightly bumped with the lower corners having a bit of softening; all four…corners of the spine are worn, with short (1/4" or less) tears at the upper two corners. The pages are toned and slightly darkened but flexible and easily fanned. Other than a penciled name, "181" in pencil, and a small embossed emblem on the FFEP, and his name in a purple ink stamp on the rear paste down, there is no writing and no stains in the book. The hinges are both tight and holding very well; when laid on the spine, neither cover will open more than about 20º from the vertical (they are rather tight). Overall, for an inexpensively made book, this has held up rather well. Its panels are not really either hard back or soft back, but a thin, stiff cardboard, and, as the photos show, both front and back cover images are very well preserved.
