Add to basketOriginal Blue cloth hardcover. Condition: Good to Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. 1944. First edition. 255pp., and black and white illustrations by Daphne Fedarb, both full-page and within the text. This is an adventure story for children, set in Shetland. Ian and Christine Scott decide to spend a holiday…with their elderly cousins at Cludan, one of the Shetland Islands. There they meet Kit and her brother Colin, who live with their father on a small island near the mainland. and Lawrence Hamilton, another holidaymaker. Adventures involving geologists and criminals ensue. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with white titling on the spine. The case of the book is in good to very good condition with bumping to the spine ends and bottom corners. The spine is slightly cocked and there are some faint white stains on the front board and a few small marks on the rear board. The contents are tight and clean with an inscription dated 1945 on the front free endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and staining. About 1 1/2" is missing from the bottom of the spine and about 1" from the top of the spine. Smaller pieces are missing from the edges and corner tips. There are also several tears with surrounding creases on the edges and the larger of these have been repaired on the reverse with tape. The dustwrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover. Daphne Fedarb (illustrator).
