Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Michael Burns & Jack Marshall (illustrator). This is a snapshot of a Canadian game, in the days of the corn broom and high back swings, when it was dominated by a `same family' team (2 bros. & 2 cousins) from Saskatchewan. The book follows the Richardson's third Brier win in Kitchner, Ontario - the sport was awed by that success. The ladies side of the game is spoken for by Joyce McKee also from Saskatchewan and also a Dominion champ. Using b/w photos the book explains the art of curling from grip to turn to sweep to hitting the broom. Diagrams help show the layout of the ice surface. A marvellous photo on p.25 shows the evolution in curling stone shapes. Pages 106 to 180 are a statistical look at the game; an index of terms is incl. Condition: excellent, excellent, and exc. As new with top and tail tears to d.j. Both the d.j. and the boards are blue green in colour with either a black or a silver curling stone graphic. Size: 12mo.
