Hellen was James Merrill's mother and the second wife of the founder of the brokerage firm of Merrill, Lynch. With contributions by James & Charles Merrill, Doris Magowan, Betty Potts, and Hellen Merrill." A fine copy of a scarce book. A near-fine copy with a few light scratches on front boards.

Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. A book in honor of Hellen Ingram Plummer, second wife of Merrill Lynch founder Charles E. Merrill and mother of poet James Merril, with contributions by her ex-husband, her three step-children, and the poem "Upon a Second Marriage" by James Merrill. Edges of the boards lightly sunned with small drip marks and smudges on the front. Inscribed on the front end paper "For Bardwell and Charlotte Smith with love from Hellen." Bardwell Smith is the son of Winthrop H. Smith, partner with Charles E. Merrill in the firm Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith. Inscribed By the Author.
