Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good+. Reprint. A clean, tight copy of this charming book. It is impossible to state with certainty the date of publication, since the only information given relates to the book's first publisher, D, Appleton Century Co. , but this does have that vintage Thirties look. The…book itself is quite pleasing, with some fading to the boards, but no inscriptions or signs of use. The binding is tight, and the paper has held up wonderfully well, with no foxing, toning or deterioration. When you start with good paper, that is what you get. The jacket is also attractive. There is some chipping, but the cover art is intact, and the back gives a list of 20 titles in the series Juveniles of Distinction: books for girls. A mylar Brodart cover now protects it. Fast shipping, with tracking number provided. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.

Hardcover. Condition: Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Hardcover with original scarce DJ, Not Ex Library 1928, Grosset & Dunlap, 299 pages. Good+ in a VG DJ. Minor shelf/edge wear to blue cloth boards with yellow titles and accents - corners lightly bumped. Green and white illustrated endpapers, yellow topstain and deckl…ed edges. Partial remains of previous owner bookplate on the FFEP. Minor shelf/edge wear, chipping and dust soiling to original, scarce and unclipped color pictorial DJ - now in mylar. B&W frontispiece and three additional B&W full plate illustrations by C. D. Williams. Interior pages are intact, with a few small stains/smudges scattered among the pages. Small tape repair (archival tape) to a small closed tear on the half-title page. Previous owner left a newspaper clipping of Olivia DeHaviland between pages 100 and 101. The clipping has offset, causing tanning to those pages and a few close by. All text remains readable. DJ art by Russell Tandy. Russell Haviland Tandy (1891 ââ?¬â?? 1963) was an American illustrator, best known for his cover art for early editions of the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series. Front interior DJ flap states: The issuance of this new edition at a reduced price is made possible by (a) use of the same plates made for the original edition: (b) acceptance by the author of a reduced royalty. Inside front cover has bookstore label from Schusters Books Milwaukee (Schusters was a major local retailer which had department stores for 80 years in Milwaukee - using horse-drawn wagons to make deliveries to homes). The story involves 5th-graders in a small New England town and their perceptions of - and interactions with - teachers, parents, and the world around them. A lovely vintage copy despite the minor flaws. Scarce. LOC FB-03.
