Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. First edition. First edition, first printing of the rare hardcover issue. [vi], 128 pp. Bound in publisher's black cloth affect with spine lettered in gilt. Near Fine with lean to binding. In a Very Good+ unclipped dust jacket with fading to spine, short crease at crown with light wear and rubbing to covers. A forgotten classic, an armed self-defense manifesto that challenged pacifist priorities of the Civil Rights Movement. The work directly influenced Huey P. Newton and the founding of the Black Panther Party. Often overlooked, Williams is considered a crucial figure of the Black Power Movement in the late '60s; when this book was published he was serving as a sort of Tokyo Rose or Lord Haw-Haw of Cuba, in exile there. He would become the first President of the Republic of New Afrika organization. Hardcover copies of the first edition are scarcely seen in the trade.
