Lasch (b. 1944, New York City) emerged from the downtown New York art scene of the 1970s and was an early member of the A.I.R. Gallery feminist collective; her practice grew out of an apprenticeship in her father's bakery. Surveys more than four decades of work organized around themes of family, ritual, mourning, and the feminine: the small acrylic-and-wood pastry sculptures encrusted with baroque pearls and glass beads for which she is best known, alongside wall-hung hearts, the Bardo Black Cake series, stitched-canvas prayer cloths, piped-paint dresses, and recent acrylic-paint wedding and christening gowns. Foreword by Elizabeth Armstrong (JoAnn McGrath Executive Director); essay "Ceci n'est pas un gateau" by Martica Sawin; lead essay "Journeys of the Heart" by curator Mara Gladstone.
