Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Ingrid and Peter Paxmann (illustrator). First Edition in English. 1963. First English translation. Unpaginated but with 32 pages (including the back of the free endpapers), colour illustrations throughout and illustrated endapapers. Written for young children, this book was originally published in German under the title Dschemal der Schornsteindieb. It is the story of a rich merchant named Hassan. He lived in a town in Turkey, but none of the houses had chimneys. The book is bound in the original blue paper covered boards with white titling on the spine and a white illustration of Hassan on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and light soiling on the boards and the spine is slightly faded. The bottom corners and spine ends are lightly bumped with a little bit of damage. The contents are tight and clean with a thin split down parts of the spine gutter of the front endpapers. There is no inscription.
