Source: Publisher Thomas Malcolm Muggeridge was an English journalist, author, media personality, and satirist. During World War II, he was a soldier and a spy. In the aftermath of the war, as a hugely influential London journalist, he converted to Christianity and helped bring Mother Teresa to popular attention in the West. He was also a critic of the sexual revolution and of drug use. Contains the brilliant essay, "The Great Liberal Death Wish".

Stylied signature, little more than a squiggle. Addressed to 'Hugh Massingham Esq., / Sunday Telegraph, / E. C. 4.' Begins: 'Dear Hugh, / Thanks so much for your note. How wretched that we missed our lunch but I shall insist on having it when I get back from Israel in November.' He explains that his 'arrangements with the Observer' prevent him from 'doing anything for the Sunday Telegraph': 'If these should change Jean Leroy will at once let you know.'.

On personal letterhead of his "Park Cottage" home, Muggeridge sends "many thanks for your most encouraging and helpful letter. I greatly appreciated hearing from you, and will be delighted if there is ever a chance of our meeting." Bold signature in black ink. Muggeridge helped bring fame to Mother Teresa and public attention to Catholic theology later in life with his books "Jesus Rediscovered" (1969), "Paul, Envoy Extraordinary" (1972) and several other religious titles. It was no doubt these books that prompted Hunt (1918-2005), Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church in the U.S., a noted theologian and president of Emory and Henry College, to write Muggeridge.
