This offering is a vintage copy of The Rhine, Italy - Greece in a Series of Drawings from Nature by Colonel Cockburn; Major Irton; Messrs. Bartlett, Leitch, and Wolfensberger with Historical and Legendary Descriptions by the Rev. G. N. Wright . The book was published by Fisher, Son & Co. in 1841 and appears to be a First Edition . . . I'm not even sure whether things like that mattered back then. The book is in very good + condition (Particularly for having been published nearly 200 years ago and has no dust jacket. The book is 8 7/8" by 11" and has 80-some pages with NONE of the dozens of beautifully done black-and-white illustrations (each protected by a page of "onion-skin" paper) counted in that page count. I'd say that it might have 150 pages total. It has leather boards with gilded decorations for a binding. What a great book for the Rhine historian . . . or any artist who appreciates beautifully done black-and-white illustrations of 200 years ago. Thank you!

Trevelyan | 25 Aug: 1844 | Recd. 26 - - | Ansd 27 -'. The letter begins: 'My dear Thomson | There appears to be some mistake; what I wished to know was, "when my Pay was due at the India House", commencing from the 20th May last - my Pay certificate was included amongst the Papers I left at your House - the sum you mention recoverable on the 29th Inst. is a Family Remittance from India and which you have been in the habit of receiving'. He wrote to the 'C.O. of the Regt.' regarding the 'Mess Wine' before leaving India, but will do so again. He will shortly write 'regarding the disposal of my spare coin'. A postscript concerns a coming trip to Weymouth by 'Lady C.'.
