Clean pages with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is bright and clear. Visible wear marks to boards.

Age-dulled and rather grimy brick-coloured binding, picture to front, black decoration and titles to front, , illustrated but blotchy spine, back board plain but blotchy. Wear to spine-ends and boards' corners. Page-edges are browned with age and there are frequent light marks to pages. Colour frontispiece. Undated - looks late Victorian/early 20th century and there is a Sunday School ceiticate pasted to inside of front board dated 1908.

Cloth is heavily worn and somewhat faded, rubbed and rounded at corners and on spine ends and joints, marked, especially on verso, spine sunned. Upper text block edge toned, remaining edges spotted. Some bleeding around margins of endpapers. Previous owner's name, dated 1919, inked on front free endpaper. Frontispiece has circa 2cm detachment at base. Tissue guard a little toned. Some faint and occasional spotting on endpapers and first and last few true leaves.
