The circular begins: 'I am writing to you because H. R. H. Princess Elizabeth has graciously consented to attend the Concert to be held by the National Federation of Jazz Organizations, of which I am President, at the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, on Saturday evening, July 14th. / This Concert would have been in any case a great landmark in British Jazz because it is no small honour to this type of Folk Music to be granted the use of the Royal Festival Hall. But it becomes historical due to Her Royal Highness's intended presence - it is in fact to the best of my knowledge the first time that Royalty has publicly recognised this musical idiom.'
