Contact seller5-star sellerThe expedition under Macomb went west from Santa Fe across northern New Mexico and Arizona to the Colorado. Most of the text is given over to the geological report of J.S. Newberry. Although not published until 1876 due to the Civil War, the expedition took place in 1859. Most notable are the eleven colored chromolithograph plat…es of scenes in northern New Mexico and Arizona, based on drawings by Newberry. HOWES M179. McGRATH, pp.121, 145. Quarto. Modern cloth, spine gilt. Two faint institutional ink stamps on titlepage. Text with light, even tanning, some offsetting from plates at rear of volume. Closed tear in map at bound-in edge, separations at a few cross-folds, a couple old tape repairs. Overall, a good plus copy.
