Mild tide-marking at base of spine, visible to endpapers but not affecting textblock. A gathering projects towards end of book, starting to detach but currently in place. Bookplate and Holy Cross Abbey inscription to inside front board. List of subscribers to front; two contents leaves to rear. Inscription in old hand to t.p.: 'N D de la Trappe Stapehill': the community de la Sainte Croix de Notre Dame de la Trappe, a small group of Cistercian nuns fleeing the French Revolution, founded Stapehill Abbey in 1802, the site having been given to them by the 8th Lord Arundell of Wardour.
