The Department of Labour was established by order of Parliament in July 1900 with Mackenzie King its first Deputy Minister. By September the first issue of The Labour Gazette appeared, with King as editor, subtitled: The Journal of the Department of Labour. Old Xavier College Library, Sydney NS, stamps to textblock edges and front free endpaper, circular blind embossed stamp on title page. Light rubbing to cloth; some splitting of paper along rear hinge but binding sound. 9.5 x 6.6 inches. Signed by Author(s).
