A fairly early novel from this very interesting lady who went on to win the Newbery Medal in 1974 with her book "The Slave Dancer". Usual sturdy production from Bradbury Press, with lovely scarlet cloth boards (durable, pyroxylin-impregnated, stain-resistant cloth no less!), blocked in blue, and with reinforced hinges. Title page and eight other full page illustrations by Mackay. Just a hint of wear to spine ends, but a near fine copy in very good dust jacket, with a little rubbing and edgewear and very short creased tear to top of front panel.
