In this latter year, William Marshall, an agricultural commentator, had this to say: `so perfectly resembling the breed of Herefordshire in frame, colour and horn, as not to be distinguishable from that celebrated breed, except in the greater cleanness of the heads and fore-quarters, and except in the inferiority of size. ' Famous foundation herds such as those of John Duncumb, Thomas Andrew Knight, Benjamin Tomkins, and William Galliers are also discussed.
