Full photo portrait frontis of subject + 5 line illustrations by Sidney Starr as called for. First Edition 1892. Please see… our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Good- Moderate general shelf wear to cloth and mild soiling. Previous owner name in ink to top margin of free front end paper, light foxing spots to prelims and to exposed edges of uncut leaves of book block, sporadic foxing to tissue guard to illust. at p. 240 with shadow of same to margin of plate. Restoration work - the book was bought in by us dis-bound the mull having failed. The spine of the book block has been cleaned, re glued with p.v.a. new mull and back strip fitted and best match cloth laid under original spine to complete the re-backing whilst retaining the original publishers end papers to produce a book which will now give many more years of service).
