Contact seller5-star sellerMössbauer, Rudolf. Typed letter signed, 1968, documents the Nobel Prize winning physicist's academic work at the Technical University of Munich during the decade in which the Mössbauer effect became an important experimental tool in nuclear physics and tests of gravitation. Mössbauer received the 1961 Nobel Prize in Physics for his research on resonance absorption of gamma radiation and for the discovery of the recoil free nuclear resonance effect that bears his name. The effect had already been used in the Pound Rebka experiment at Harvard to measure gravitational redshift, providing an early terrestrial test of a prediction of Einstein's general theory of relativity. Mössbauer, Rudolf. Typed Letter Signed. December 17, 1968. 1 page, in German, on Technical University of Munich letterhead. Mössbauer writes, "Attached you will find an offprint describing the fundamental beliefs based on our reform in Munich." Signed "Rudolf Moessbauer." The letter therefore concerns university reform and the circulation of a related printed statement rather than Mössbauer's experimental physics, preserving evidence of his involvement in the institutional and educational affairs of the Munich university during the late 1960s. By 1968 Mössbauer had returned to Munich after holding a professorship at the California Institute of Technology and had become a leading figure in West German physics. His reference to "our reform in Munich" places the letter within a period of substantial debate over the organization and governance of European universities, including changes affecting scientific education and research institutions. In excellent condition. The combination of Technical University letterhead, a precisely dated statement on Munich reform, and Mössbauer's autograph signature provides a direct record of the physicist's academic activity beyond the laboratory. Signed.…

Add to basketPostkarte. Condition: Gut. Januar 1929 in München; ? 14. Juni 1962 verliehen. Er erhielt 1961 den Röntgen-Preis der Universität Gießen, 1961 die Elliott Cresson Medal des Franklin Institute Philadelphia, 1964 das Große Verdienstkreuz mit Stern und Schulterband der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, 1984 die Lomonossow-Goldmedaille und 2004 den Goldenen Ehrenring der Technischen Universität München.[6] Das Institute for Advanced Studies der Technischen Universität München widmet Mößbauer ein Tenure Track Programm.[7] /// Standort Wimregal PKis-Box105-U012 WITHIN THE EU: shipping only to GERMANY and AUSTRIA due to the new EPR regulations.
