John Amory amdinistered the trust for 40 years. He was a Fellow of Harvard College (1837-1877), a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of the Linnean Society of London. Lowell gradated from Harvard in 1815 -- and noted each of his successive undergraduate years on the flyleaaf of this book. 1851, Harvard honored John Amory Lowell with an LLD. Contemporary calf (rubbed), rebacked.
