Catalog published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Rotunda of Low Memorial Library, this catalog presents art from China's T'ang Dynasty (A.D. 618 - 907) and preceding dynasties, drawn from the Sackler Collections. The exhibition was part of a series at Columbia University intended to illuminate the scientific and artistic qualities of archaeological materials. Foreward by Dr. Jean Gordon Maher. Includes sections on T'ang lead-glazed earthenware and pottery vessels, high-fired wares, Yueh wares, T'ang marbled wares, T'ang white wares; Petrological Investigation of Stone Sculptures of the T'ang Dynasty; mirrors of the T'ang period; catalog list of 92 items; bibliography. Prepared with assistance by graduate students in Columbia's Program of Advanced Studies at the Graduate Faculties, including Jonathan Chaves, Michael Kan, Daphne Lange, John Lunsford, Karen Rubinson, Harvey Stutpler, and Eric Whiting. It also includes a chronological timeline of dynasties from the Shang through the Ch'ing.
