Papier alters- und qualitätsbedingt gebräunt.… - Collection "I'Heure H" - La Grüce au combat Sans l'accord de l'Allemagne dont elle contrariait alors les desseins, Vitali° fasciste engagea des hostilites contre la Grace le 28 octobre 1940. Loin de se trouver devant une nation sans volonta, les armes de Mussolini, y compris les Formations d'alite, se heurterent, apres les succas du dateut, ä un adversaire certes infarieur en nombre et en armement mais resolu comme peut l'ätre un peuple ddifendant son sol et sa liberta.« Je place disait Jean Mätaxas, chef du gouvernement grec la dignit6 de la Grace au-dessus de tout probleme. » Et puis, c'est le miracle du Pinde, avec des heros comme le colonel Davakis, la deroute des Alpins. Les Grecs ayant passe ä l'offensive, avancent rapidement en Albanie. Mais l'humiliation subie par Mussolini ne präserve pas la Grace au combat de la menace hitlerienne, d'autant que la Bulgarie se range aux cetes de l'Axe. En avril 1941, sous le pratexte de la presence anglaise, les Allemands envahissent la Grace epuisee. Les victorieux sont vaincus. Reste la Crate, intime reduit de la souverainet6 grecque. Elle cede ä son tour, en mai, sous un daluge de parachutistes, malgra la defense opiniätre des forces britanniques assisties d'unites cratoises, soutenues elles-mimes par une population unanime. Le temps n'est plus de 1' « aera », cri de guerre des evzones repoussant l'agresseur. Les Grecs souffrent dans leur chair et dans leur äme. Les couleurs nazies offensent l'Acropole jusqu'aux jours de la dalivrance Fin 1944 prepares par des sacrifices correspondant, ä la Liberation, a la perte de 10 " de la Population. Costa de Loverdo a fait un tableau vibrant et scrupuleux de l'apopee de 1940-1941, qui en appelle aux Thermopyles, tout en donnant la Chronologie de la rasistance grecque, 1941-1944, ä la fois nationale et divisee en maquis de Droite et de Gauche.
