This "memoir" was a hoax perpetrated by Joseph Howard Lee, who was born in Baltimore Maryland in 1877 and passed himself off as an African "Savage" on the U. S. Lecture circuit in the first half of the…20th Century. This paperback edition is a pirated edition by Tauchniz of the Knopf First Edition of 1930. Lee died in Attica Prison in Upstate New York in 1947. Very Good in printed paper wraps with moderate wear to covers and no marks to text. ; Lobagola; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 294 pages.
