(lxi) + 422pp. Marbled page-edges; 59 splendid engraved plates, of which two ('Bess and her Spinning-Wheel' and 'The Country Lassie') are missing; with Glossary. Leather worn and scuffed,…though intact apart from 3cm split at bottom of spine; internal contents generally somewhat grubby, esp. front and rear endpapers; inner pages reasonably clean, though with occasional grubby marks/light spotting throughout; binding a little loose in places, but still secure. Overall a well-worn, well-used volume which shows its age, but may be considered to have all the more character for that.
