Ships in box, from the USA, quickly & w/care. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SYNOPSIS & HISTORY: Originally published in 1893 and reprinted in this early twentieth-century edition by the A. L. Burt Company, Through Apache Land is a Western adventure novel written for a juvenile audience. The narrative follows experienced frontier scouts and buffalo hunters Tom Hardynge and Dick Morris as they embark on a dangerous expedition into the rugged Gila River territory of Arizona. Their primary objective is to rescue a young boy, Ned, who has been captured by a band of Apaches. The plot unfolds through classic elements of early American frontier literature, featuring tracking sequences, skirmishes, wilderness survival, and close encounters with native fauna. This volume is presented in a publisher-designed green cloth binding with a mounted pictorial color illustration on the front cover and brown-ruled striped bands on the spine. The volume contains 334 pages of text followed by a selection of period publisher advertisements, and features a plain-paper black-and-white illustrated frontispiece depicting a dramatic canoe struggle. The copy retains its original paper dust jacket, which lists the title within A. L. Burt's Wide Awake Boys' Series on the rear panel and advertises the volume at a price of sixty cents. Bibliographical evidence on the jacket, including the publisher's Duane Street address (52-58 Duane Street) and the series catalog listing of early titles, identifies this printing as circa 1905. Written under the pseudonym Lieut. R. H. Jayne, the work was authored by Edward Sylvester Ellis (1840-1916), a highly prolific and influential American author of dime novels and history guides. Because juvenile readers of the era almost universally discarded or damaged these fragile paper wrappers, surviving jacketed specimens are valued by collectors of antique children's series and Western Americana.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A brisk flame of adventure fuels The Cave In The Mountain, a late nineteenth¿century classic where grit meets grit in the high alpine. When danger closes in among snow and rock, the human will to endure becomes as gripping as the peril itself.Lieut. R. H. Jayne crafts a lean, human-centred tale set in British mountain regions, where exploration and survival collide with the harsh poetry of a mountain landscape. The form feels both taut and atmospheric, rewarding readers who relish classic adventure and the quieter, more reflective moments that define colonial era fiction. It is a story of courage, mistake, luck, and the divides between companionship and self-reliance, all rendered with a lucid, modern energy that honours a revered publishing tradition.Historically significant as a public domain beacon of Stevensonian adventure, it offers a rare window into era, terrain and mindset. The prose carries the echoes of late nineteenth¿century explorers while speaking to today's public¿domain readers and classic fiction enthusiasts alike. The Cave In The Mountain is more than a reprint; it is a restored cultural treasure that invites a new generation to walk the corridors of peril and discovery.Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions, it has been restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure, suited to both casual readers and devoted collectors who treasure alpine settings and the spirit of classic adventure fiction.…
