Presumed first edition. 192pp., a colour frontispiece, 3 full-page black and white illustrations and a few illustrations within the text. Showell Styles (1908-2005) was a prolific British writer of crime novels, historical novels, thriller, guidebooks, mountaineering books, and numerous children's books. The present book is one of his stories of the Scouts of the Tiger Patrol. They are on a big Jamboree in Austria, but when their plane makes a crash landing amid wild mountain ranges the thrills begin to come thick and fast. The book is bound in the original red boards with black titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the spine ends and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The dustwrapper has shelf wear and soiling with chipping to the edges. The spine ends are bumped with about 1/2" missing from part of the top of the spine. There is a tear with some surrounding creasing on the top front corner. A price sticker showing 5/- has been placed over the printed price of 7s 6d on the front flap. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.
