Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Actor for McLaglen, nominated for two others, including Best Picture. Screenwriter Dudley Nichols became the first person to decline an Academy Award, when his refused his Oscar due to an ongoing dispute between the Screen Writers Guild and the Academy, though he would eventually claim it three years later. Detached green wrappers, noting the title, screenwriter and director on the spine in manuscript ink. Title page integral with first page of text, with credits for screenwriter Nichols and novelist O'Flaherty. 105 leaves, with last page of text numbered 105. Mimeograph duplication.
