With an early ownership inscription on the title page of George H. Piper, of Ledbury; and a second ownership inscription on the front pastedown of W. Leyson, May 1899. He was a prominent Freemason, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a well-known archaeologist. He had held the office of president to the Malvern Field Club and the Woolhope Field Club, and local hon. secretary to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
