Condition: Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. 214, [10] pages. Illustrations (mostly color). Foreword by Robert Kerrey. Index. Signed with sentiment on the title page by both co-authors; Inscription reads: Keep up the Great Work! Meryl Levin & Will Kanteres. Meryl Levin is a freelance photographer whose work focu…ses on issues of health and social welfare. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Village Voice, New York Magazine, DoubleTake, the Economist, and American Medical News, among others. From 1991-2001 she was a member of the cooperative photo agency, Impact Visuals. After studying poetry from 1985-1987 at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, she graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts Photography Department at New York University with honors in 1990. Levin has photographed a variety of issues in and around New York City, including AIDS activism, race relations, women's health care issues, and homelessness. More recent work has focused on the health care of underprivileged children both in the United States and abroad. Since 1995, she has worked on a long term project tentatively titled "Beyond the Emergency Room: The Search for Health Care in the South Bronx," series of intimate portraits that document the lives of a small group individuals and their families as they search for health care. Levin, who is based in New York City, has been guest lecturer at colleges and universities in the tri-state area and is adjunct faculty member at The School of Visual Arts where she teaches a class in social documentary. This book is a wonderful look at grassroots politics through the eyes of young people, many of whom were experiencing their first Presidential campaign. It will restore your faith in the electoral process. The New Hampshire Presidential primary embodies all of the elements of great drama: faith and hope, winning and losing, personal transformation, hubris, even love. Until now, being there has been the only way to experience it. But this book combines poignant words and pictures to capture it as it has never been captured before. All photographs and text were created during the 2003-2004 Democratic Presidential Primary Season in New Hampshire. PRIMARILY NEW HAMPSHIRE celebrates the work of the young politicos who dedicated a year of their lives to working on the Presidential Primary in New Hampshire during the 2004 campaign season. It combines 160 beautifully reproduced color photographs of the staffers at work and at play with their recollections of the campaign experience. Co-author Will Kanteres writes an overview from the perspective of a former staffer. Trade paperback, with folding flaps.
