This landmark Hebrew language children's book contains the 27 letters of the Hebrew Alphabet, by artist Ze'ev Raban, a founder of the Israeli Art and Crafts school and workshop, Bezalel. Each letter as appears a large historiated initial, illuminated and over-painted in gilt with illustrations surrounding. Each image is accompanied with verse in Hebrew by Levin Kipniss (1894-1990). Included in this work are the following letters/designs: "Het - Hasidah (stork)," "Vav - Vered (rose)," "Resh - Rimon (Pomegranate)," and "Ayin - Ez (goat) and Etz (tree)." Pages on heavy cardstock. Title pages in Hebrew and German. Text in Hebrew. Covers with some light rubbing to corners and edges. Minor smudges and stains to covers. Spine rubbed somewhat, with some closed tears, and light fraying to cloth at the head and tail of the spine. Ex-library ink stamp on the interior front cover. Gutter of interior front cover starting, near the top. Pages clean with images vibrant throughout. Binding in very good-, interior in very good+. Binding protected in modern mylar.
