Frontispiece black and white photo of Louis De Lestry. Just touches of wear to extremities, covers ever so lightly soiled, frontispiece photo in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket probably as issued. Short stories included in this volume are the following: The Story of a Ring, Alma,--A Tale of Little Russia, The Tale of the Singing River, A Christmas Under Ground, The Sodhouse on the Plains, The Walking Ghost Mine, How Dave Became a Millionaire, and Sister Felicia. Edmond Louis De Lestry [1860-1933] was Editor and Publisher of De Lestryi's Western Magazine [St. Paul, 1897-1901] a journal with a particular interest in the preservation of historical data. Almost every issue contained an account of some early Minnesota celebrity or a narrative of some historical event frequently written by the editor. De Lestry also published articles on such subjects as transportation, architecture, osteopathy and river navigation, but his interest was obviously more in the past than the present. [information from Minnesota History, Vol. 26, No. 4, December 1945].
