Soft cover. Condition: Fair. In Spanish. Pb, staple-bound, 78pp, b/w plates inc. frontis. Fair. The front cover has come loose and is attached by cellotape. The covers are edgeworn, heavily tanned and spine has a tear. Staples rusty and one page has inked correction. However the interesting thing about this item is a) previous o…wner's inscription on front cover which states " presented to me by the author, Dusseldorf Dec 1926" and b) a handwritten inked solution on the back of an insert which states " this solution of the problem at r.h. bottom of front cover was given me personally by R. Reti (his own handwriting) at Dusseldorf Dec. 1926". Series of four chess lectures given by Reti at the end of 1924 in Buenos Aires, edited by Lerner and with some revisions by Roberto Grau. They cover a range of topics and include analysed games (please see photo of Contents page). Reti's handwritten solution is written on the back of an insert included with the book (it has the same serial number) offering a coupon to purchase a Supplement. While it is impossible for me to authenticate this note, I will say that letters such as "R", "B", "K" etc, do look typical of his handwriting as seen in online sources. I also like the fact that the first position has been crossed out ! This first edition is relatively rare and according to Edward Winter's "Chess Notes", later editions had revised content and title.
