Cette correspondance eut un énorme succès, y compris en Angleterre ; on a là une des premières descriptions modernes et réalistes de l'Inde. L'herbier de Victor Jacquemont est intégré à celui de Desfontaines. Ses très riches collections sont étudiées par Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire (1805-1861), Henri Milne-Edwards (1800-1885), Émile Blanchard (1819-1900), Achille Valenciennes (1794-1865), Jacques Cambessèdes (1799-1863) et Joseph Decaisne (1807-1882). Ces naturalistes lui dédient plusieurs espèces comme les plantes Betula jacquemontii, Corylus jacquemontii, Prunus jacquemontii ainsi que l'arisème Arisaema jacquemontii. '' *******************.
