Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. An attractive original piece of Hollywood music ephemera issued in conjunction with Paramount Pictures' 1932 musical comedy One Hour With You, directed by the legendary Ernst Lubitsch and starring Maurice Chevalier, Jeanette MacDonald, Genevieve Tobin, and Charles Ruggles. The title song… features lyrics by Academy Award-winning lyricist Leo Robin and music by prolific composer Richard A. Whiting, whose standards helped define American popular music during the interwar years. The striking Art Deco cover portrait of Maurice Chevalier, accompanied by a romantic scene from the film, perfectly captures the glamour and sophisticated style associated with the celebrated 'Lubitsch Touch.' The rear cover advertises Dana Suesse's contemporary composition Jazz Nocturne, another iconic work of the era. Condition is Good. The cover retains strong visual appeal despite moderate age-related wear, including edge wear, scattered creasing, several chips and short tears - most noticeably at the upper corners - and light soiling consistent with nearly a century of careful handling. The music remains complete and legible with no missing pages. Interior pages show light toning, a few pencil performance annotations, and scattered edge tears and corner losses that do not affect the printed music. Original publisher staples remain present and securely hold the folio together. Although well-used, this remains a highly displayable example of an increasingly collectible early Hollywood film tie-in. Richard A. Whiting (1891-1938) was among America's most successful popular composers during the 1920s and 1930s, writing enduring standards including Ain't We Got Fun?, Hooray for Hollywood, Beyond the Blue Horizon, and numerous Broadway and Hollywood songs. His daughter, Margaret Whiting, later became one of America's best-known vocalists. Leo Robin (1900-1984) was one of Hollywood's premier lyricists, collaborating with composers including Ralph Rainger and Richard A. Whiting. He received the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Thanks for the Memory (1938) and contributed lyrics to many of the most memorable musical films of Hollywood's Golden Age.
