Hardcover: Very Good, 28,5 x 23 cm, 587 pp., Dutch, 1st Edition, illustrations, book condition: Very Good Very light signs of use on both hard covers The KAJ movement: The book describes the extensive history of the Christian Workers' Youth (KAJ) and the Female Catholic Workers' Youth (VKAJ) in Flanders. Members of these organizations were called 'kajotters' and 'kajotsters'. More than Jozef Cardijn: Although the founder, priest, and later cardinal Jozef Cardijn was the absolute pivot and face of the movement, this book deliberately emphasizes the ordinary members and local leaders. Without their daily commitment and propaganda, the movement could never have grown so large. The method: It delves deeply into the innovative, engaged youth work that was based on the well-known triad "see, judge, act". The KAJ functioned as a 'school for life' to teach young workers independence and responsibility. Historical events: The reader gets an overview of the spectacular growth of the movement, the many propaganda actions, the large jubilee congresses, the pilgrimages, and the sometimes complex relationships with the Church and the broader Christian workers' movement.
