Dust-jacket design by Ted Bernstein, rear jacket photo of author by George C. Harris. His first novel. The author was a lawyer in St. Louis, a WWII veteran, editor of Perspective. A 2016 obituary noted that he lived a "double life" as lawyer and novelist, and was immortalized in a poem by Howard Nemerov: "By Al Lebowitz's Pool.".
