Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated but no maps. Early Printing. Octavo. Original black cloth, faded at spine. Gilt-lettered spine. Account of Layard's first expedition to explore the ruins of ancient Assyria, beginning with Nimrud on the Tigris and later at the mount of Kouyunjik, near Mosul, in 1845-46. Two volumes in one. Very good, with some rubbing to cloth binding and minor loss of cloth at gutters. Some foxing.
